Professionalism & Professional Standards for Doctors

A 2.5-hour course on professional standards for GMC-registered doctors, built around the GMC's Good Medical Practice 2024, Domains 1, 3, and the conduct side of Domain 4. It moves from staying within your competence through workplace culture and raising concerns, to everyday conduct, online behaviour, and a full worked case tying it together.

Most workplace conduct and culture concerns don't start as dramatic events. They build from small, unexamined patterns: a competence gap never mentioned, a concern never raised properly, a culture that quietly discouraged questions. This course teaches the standard doctors are actually held to on ordinary days, not just in a crisis.

You'll finish able to recognise and act on a genuine competence gap, delegate and supervise safely, raise a concern through the right channel with real specificity, meet the everyday conduct standard that protects trust, navigate online conduct and your own wellbeing as GMP 2024 now defines it, and work through a genuine worked case that ties all five areas together.

The course runs across five modules of unequal length, weighted toward the areas GMP 2024 strengthened most:

• Competence, currency, delegation, and safe continuity of care
• Workplace culture, discrimination, raising concerns properly, and inclusive leadership
• The everyday conduct standard, workplace boundaries, and records as a discipline
• Online conduct and your own wellbeing as a professional duty
• Leadership, where conduct and ethics genuinely overlap, the 2024 changes, and a full worked case

Any doctor registered with the GMC, at any career stage, in any setting. Especially relevant if you supervise or lead a team, or if a workplace conduct or culture concern has already been raised.
