Who this is for

Is this you?

We wrote this for three kinds of doctor. Most people reading this are at least one of them.

01

A workplace culture, conduct, or colleague concern has already surfaced.

Something specific happened, a complaint about how you or a team was run, a question about a workplace boundary, a colleague who wasn't supported properly, and you need to understand the actual standard, not just apologise and move on.

02

You supervise or lead a team and want to genuinely meet the standard.

Delegating safely, giving feedback that lands, building a culture where people actually raise concerns, not just avoiding an obvious failure. Leadership in medicine starts long before a formal title.

03

Revalidation is coming and your Domain 1 & 3 evidence is thin.

Most doctors' CPD leans heavily on clinical topics or ethics. Competence, culture, conduct and colleague relationships are just as assessable, and just as often left unaddressed until appraisal is close.

Three domains. Five areas. One standard.

Everything in this course maps back to Good Medical Practice 2024's Domains 1, 3, and the conduct side of Domain 4, plus the standards genuinely new in the 2024 update. Once you can see the connection, "professionalism" stops being a vague expectation.

Domain 1

Competence

Staying safely within what you actually know how to do, and delegating properly when you don't.

Domain 3

Colleagues & Culture

Building a culture where concerns get raised, and raising your own properly, through the right channel.

Domain 4

Conduct & Trust

The everyday reliability and behaviour that earns trust, not a single decision under pressure.

GMP 2024

Online & Wellbeing

The newest additions: your conduct online, and your own wellbeing as a genuine professional duty.

About this course

What it covers, and why

Course description

A 2.5-hour course on professional standards for GMC-registered doctors, built around the GMC's Good Medical Practice 2024, Domains 1, 3, and the conduct side of Domain 4. It moves from staying within your competence through workplace culture and raising concerns, to everyday conduct, online behaviour, and a full worked case tying it together.

Why it's relevant

Most workplace conduct and culture concerns don't start as dramatic events. They build from small, unexamined patterns: a competence gap never mentioned, a concern never raised properly, a culture that quietly discouraged questions. This course teaches the standard doctors are actually held to on ordinary days, not just in a crisis.

How it improves your practice

You'll finish able to recognise and act on a genuine competence gap, delegate and supervise safely, raise a concern through the right channel with real specificity, meet the everyday conduct standard that protects trust, navigate online conduct and your own wellbeing as GMP 2024 now defines it, and work through a genuine worked case that ties all five areas together.

What it covers

The course runs across five modules of unequal length, weighted toward the areas GMP 2024 strengthened most:

  • Competence, currency, delegation, and safe continuity of care
  • Workplace culture, discrimination, raising concerns properly, and inclusive leadership
  • The everyday conduct standard, workplace boundaries, and records as a discipline
  • Online conduct and your own wellbeing as a professional duty
  • Leadership, where conduct and ethics genuinely overlap, the 2024 changes, and a full worked case

Who it's for

Any doctor registered with the GMC, at any career stage, in any setting. Especially relevant if you supervise or lead a team, or if a workplace conduct or culture concern has already been raised. The same standards apply to physician associates and anaesthesia associates regulated by the GMC. Part of the wider CrownEthics library of CPD courses for UK healthcare professionals.

Related courses

This course stands on its own. But depending on which of the three situations above is actually yours, one of these pairs with it better than buying either alone:

  • You want the full picture of what GMP 2024 expects, not just conduct — add Ethics & Ethical Standards for Doctors (GMC). The two courses are designed as a pair covering all four GMP domains between them, without duplicating each other — this course covers standing conduct and discipline, that one covers reasoning through genuine dilemmas.
  • A concern has already been raised about you — add Fitness to Practise: What You Need to Know. This course teaches the conduct standard you're being measured against; that one explains the actual process, timeline, and what happens next.
  • You need to show a regulator, appraiser, or employer that you've genuinely changed — add Remediation — Demonstrating Change. It takes the standard this course teaches and turns it into an evidenced remediation package, matched cause to remedy.

Every course above is standalone and priced individually, so buy only the pairing that matches your actual situation rather than the whole set.

Frequently asked

Questions about this course

Does this course count as CPD for GMC revalidation?

+
Yes. It provides 2.5 hours of documented CPD learning with a certificate on completion, valid supporting evidence for your appraisal and revalidation portfolio.

Is this course based on Good Medical Practice 2024?

+
Yes, throughout. The course maps directly to GMP 2024's domains, particularly Domain 1 (Knowledge, Skills & Development) and Domain 3 (Communication, Partnership & Teamwork), and cites GMP's actual wording rather than paraphrasing generic professionalism principles.

How is this different from the Ethics course?

+
Ethics covers reasoning through genuine dilemmas, consent, confidentiality, honesty under pressure. This course covers standing conduct and discipline, competence, delegation, culture, everyday conduct, online conduct, and wellbeing. Together they cover GMP fully; either stands alone.

Will this help if a workplace conduct or culture concern has been raised?

+
It will help you understand the standard you're being assessed against, clearly and accurately. It is educational, not legal advice, and doesn't replace representation. If you're facing a live GMC concern, contact your defence organisation before acting on anything.

Does the course cover raising a concern about a colleague?

+
Yes. A dedicated lesson covers the actual mechanics of raising a concern properly, the right channel, the right specificity, and documentation, not just the ethical reasoning behind whether to raise it.

How long does the course take, and is it self-paced?

+
Around 2.5 hours in total, fully self-paced. Your progress saves automatically. Access does not expire.

Is there an assessment, and what happens if I don't pass?

+
Yes, a 15-question final assessment covering all five modules, requiring 80% to pass and unlock your certificate. Retakes are unlimited, and four shorter knowledge checks along the way don't count towards your certificate.

What do I actually receive when I enrol?

+
Full access to all 19 lessons and the final assessment, plus a downloadable certificate on passing, yours to keep permanently.

Who reviewed this course for accuracy?

+
The course content was reviewed by qualified healthcare professionals to make sure the standards, case scenarios and regulatory references reflect how these situations are actually handled in medical practice.

Can my Trust or practice enrol multiple doctors at once?

+
Yes. We offer team access and bulk pricing for NHS Trusts and private providers, with an individual certificate issued for every doctor who completes the course. Contact us for organisation-level enrolment, or visit CrownEthics to see everything we offer.
